I retired from my position as Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Arizona in July 2005. From May 2006 to August 2008, I worked as a Linguistics Program Officer in the Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences at the National Science Foundation in Arlington VA, and for much of that time was also on half-time detail to the NSF Office of Cyberinfrastructure. I am currently working as a 52-day/year "expert" in the Robust Intelligence Program, Division of Information & Intelligent Systems, Computer & Information Science & Engineering Directorate at NSF. I am living in Alexandria VA with my wife Nancy, dogs Maggie, Artie and Freddy, and cats Luna and Scooter.
