Prospective Students

I. Applicants must complete BOTH

(A.) an online University of Arizona Graduate College application: and

(B.) The Department of Linguistics online application.

II. In addition to completing the online Linguistics departmental application and Graduate College application, you must send, via U.S. mail, official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities you have attended to:

*NOTE: the GRE exam is recommended but not required for applicants to our Native American Linguistics M.A.

IV. Additional directions regarding application materials and other required information can be found within the Linguistics Department online application. After you open the online application, you will need to establish a user name and password which will allow you to revisit and add to your application as often as you like up to the deadline [Domestic application deadline: January 15, 2009; International application deadline: December 1, 2008]. Once you submit your application, the application will be closed.

2. 3 Letters of recommendation; recommendation form may be downloaded here.
3. A one-page statement of purpose outlining your interests and explaining your professional goals.
4. GRE scores sent directly to Graduate College; our department code is 2903; The University of Arizona code is 4832.
5. Official transcripts from all Universities and Colleges attended
6. Writing sample [in English]. This may appear as a research paper, thesis chapter, analytical essay, or published article.
7. Students who are not native speakers of English must also provide official TOEFL/SPEAK test scores. Scores must be sent directly to the Graduate College; the University code is: 4832.
8. You must also complete The University of Arizona Graduate College Application form and pay fee.
