Simin Karimi, Mohsen Mahdavi and Ryan Smith, representing the Iranian Complex Predicate Research Group, will present a talk at a conference at Sorbonne in Paris on November 25, and will spend two weeks collecting data from various Iranian languages for this research.

The "Linguistics in Children's Museum Tucson" project is a collaboration between UA and Children's Museum Tucson that aims to introduce children to scientific research in an informal setting.

Andy Wedel was on KGUN9 local news discussing new research that suggests that physical properties of the local environment can potentially shape the consonant inventories of languages over time. Robert Henderson attended NELS 46 at Concordia University in Montreal over the weekend. On Oct 17th, he put on his syntax hat to present joint work with Jessica Coon (McGill) on some prima facie exceptions to the ban on the extraction of ergative subjects from canonical transitive clauses in Kaqchikel (Mayan).
